If you read the last blog post about this place or watched the video you know a little bit about this abandoned mansion and its history. In the video I showed and also talked about in the previous blog entry on this location, an apartment that was left untouched and stuck in the 90s. I had thought this apartment was vacant and untouched, though we had our suspicions. Turns out we were wrong. This house is a well known shelter for the many local homeless. We met a schitzo who was staying there at the time we explored ,and before him a drunk who once trashed the Mcdonalds down the street and held a knife to employee's throats. He is now out of jail and seemingly still staying there again.
Since our first visit the power has been cut off and trash had accumulated so bad you couldn't see the back bedroom floor. Racoons had broken in and thrown the trash everywhere through the place. Furniture had been broken, and part of the kitchen floor had caved in and been covered with plywood. The house is falling apart badly and the apartment upstairs is most likely the only somewhat safe unit in the house. Along with this beer bottles and more had been thrown everywhere. It was a complete change from the way it was. Brandon and me spent money and cleaned it back to how we first found it in an attempt to preserve it. Two days after the same drunk broke back in and broke furniture, threw trash again, and was sleeping in the bedroom he had barricaded himself in.
We have relocked the building and I am working on episode 2 of AfterLife, the topic being the mansion and its many guests over the decades. Another blog entry may follow after I go back and check on the place but as of now it should be locked up and fine.
